Voip1511b37 Skype Travel Phone Versus Apple’s Iphone 3Gs

For those who wish to save money on long-distance calls while traveling, the Philips VOIP1511B/37 Skype Travel phone is a valid choice because, according to the Amazon.com website, one can make free calls to other skype members from any destination in the world. One can ” utilize this phone wherever you are [wherever he or she is] to call any skype users for free.” (www.amazon.com/philips-VOIP1511B-37-skype-travel/dp/boo 1617 okg)This phone would be particularly useful if one is on a cruise, especially since ship to shore calls are approximately $6 a minute!

Last year I went on a cruise with my father, and I had to go to AT&T before I left in order to assume their overseas service. I had to pay $5 per month for the overseas usage, as well as the phone charges for my iphone and, let me tell you, that was not cheap! Not only that, but I had to turn off some of the functions on my iphone in order to further eliminate costs, and I forgot to do that! I had a big surprise waiting for me when I got home; a $1000 cell phone bill to AT&T that I had to pay by a certain date to avoid disconnection! If only I had known about the Philips VOIP1511B/37 Skype Travel Phone!

Not only can one save money on his or her long-distance phone calls by using the Philips Skype Travel Phone, but one can save money on the win price. This phone can be purchased for $29.99 from the Philips Online store (www.philipsstore.com) and $25.99 from amazon.com (www.amazon.com/philips-VOIP1511B-37-skype-travel/dp/BOO 1617 okg), while the Iphone 3GS is approximately $200 or more.(www.att.com)

From a technical viewpoint, the Philips VOIP1511B/37 skype travel phone has other advantages as well, such as its clear sound quality. The amazon.com website says in its description of the phone that calls made on the skype travel phone makes one feel as if he or she were in the same room as the person he or she was calling. The phone ” features sound clarity providing face-to-face conversation quality with the convenience of a classic phone.” (www.amazon.com/philips-VOIP1511B-37-skype-travel/dp/BOO 1617 okg) With the Iphone 3GS one has to sometimes worry about dropped calls if one isn’t in an spot covered by AT&T.

Another advantage of the Philips Skype Travel Phone is that it functions with both the macintosh and the windows programs. All one has to do is to connect the phone to a USB port on his or her computer like it says on its product description on the Amazon.com website: ” Using this phone is as easy as simply plugging the phone into a USB port on your desktop or laptop computer. Windows and Mac compatible, this phone comes with a full key pad, an LCD screen for viewing contacts, cell status, skype voicemail alerts, and more.”

Despite the cost-effectiveness of the skype phone, it doesn’t compare to the Iphone 3GS by Apple. Among my accepted features of this phone are its video and photographic features. One can capture memorable moments by not only taking still photos, but videos as well. If one is on a vacation and doesn’t want to mess with bulky and expensive video equipment, one can bewitch videos from the Iphone without the hassle of checking the video equipment on flights and paying an additional fee for excess luggage. One can also look at his videos anytime he or she wants to by simply pulling his or her phone from pockets or purses.

I use this video function all of the time. I capture a video of my husband when he is not looking, and he will tell me playfully (when he catches me) to “cut it out!” I also use the camera to take still photos. During my trip to Moorea last year, I took some photos of a pair of dolphins, and I emailed them directly to my mother’s aol account with just a couple of clicks. It is nice to not only be able to send photos to others easily with the iphone, but it is also convenient to be able to enjoy both the videos and the still photos I take whenever I pull out my phone. I can hold onto my memories and my experiences and re-live them whenever and wherever I want.

Another advantage that the Iphone 3GS has over the Philips skype travel phone is that the Iphone 3GS has a calendar which I use all the time in order to hold track of my appointments. It also has a note pad for jotting down notes, and it has internet capability to download any applications that one wants. I use the iphone to check my bank account balances, to tell jokes (from a “knock-knock” application I downloaded), and I can use my phone to play games as well.

As one can see, the Philips VOIP1511B/37 depart phone and the Iphone 3GS both have their advantages and disadvantages. The Philips VOIP1511B/37 travel phone is less expensive in that one can call other skype members for free of charge, while, with the iphone, one needs to set up and pay for international phone service, which can be very costly. The Phiips VOIP1511B/37 travel phone has exceptional sound quality, and is good for those who settle to have a phone with less features. If one chooses to have a phone with more features, than one cannot beat the Iphone 3GS. I deal with it frequently, and I cannot live without it, even though it is more expensive and the long-distance calls are higher. The sound quality on the Iphone is also good, though sometimes one experiences dropped calls. If money is not an issue, I would recommend the Iphone 3GS over the Philips VOIP1511B,
